Kenosha educators voted overwhelmingly to recertify the KEA in the recertification election that ended Wednesday, November 16 at noon. The teacher unit recertified the KEA far exceeding the threshold of 51% needed of all eligible voters voting yes. This vote shows how strongly Kenosha educators feel about union power and collective bargaining.
Thank you to our KEA building leaders for encouraging colleagues to vote, and to everyone who voted in this election. We will continue our fight for better teaching and learning conditions for all of the educators and students of Kenosha.
Thank you again to all of those who voted to support KEA!
Reminder of Parameters for Use of KUSD Email During Recertification Elections
On March 23, 2016, the KEA reached a settlement agreement with the District to resolve a dispute between the KUSD and KEA related to the permissible use of KUSD email by employees to communicate about the recertification election.
Pursuant to this agreement:
Employees shall be permitted to communicate about certification elections using the District’s email system in accordance with the following:
- Employees shall direct emails only to eligible voters.
- Employees shall not be permitted to utilize or send mass emails using any employee distribution lists such as, but not limited to “All Users,” “Teachers,” or “Indian Trail Staff.”
On two occasions during the recertification elections this fall, employees utilized mass distribution lists to communicate about the recertification election, inconsistent with the above. In the future, please do not use employee distribution lists to communicate with employees about the recertification elections and no not direct emails to employees who are not eligible voters.
If you have any questions or require clarification on this matter please contact Chris Perillo.
