Know That You are Appreciated: KEA Members Volunteer to Make That Clear

We didn’t want Teacher Appreciation Week to slip by without expressing our sincere thanks to everyone who works with Kenosha’s students to provide them with the best in public education.  It is truly no exaggeration to say that this institution is the bedrock of our free democracy and – in a period dominated by corporate-owned media and bilious pundits – it is important to emphasize that the vast, vast majority of the public you serve understand your crucial role and hold you in high esteem.

A dedicated group of KEA members volunteered to come together the evening of Teacher Appreciation Day and make as many phone calls as they could to KUSD educators to personally express that sentiment.  We cannot thank them enough for the giving of their time to provide a little recognition to their colleagues.

The response – to even so simple a gesture – was extremely positive.  It was a reminder that those of us who work in education are motivated as much by a desire to do what we know is important work, and to have that noble goal recognized, as anything else.

We only regret that we did not have nearly the resources to reach everyone.  So, we take this opportunity to let you know that we are honored to be associated with you, that you should be proud of the profession you have chosen and the work that you do, and that virtually everyone else in America feels exactly the same way.

Thank you for all that you do.
